She was intimately involved with every aspect of the tournament, from filling the stadiums for the largest women’s sporting event in history to making “Women’s World Cup” a household phrase. Her particular focus was on business and legal operations: negotiating major corporate and sponsorship partnerships for the Committee, shaping marketing and ticketing strategy, negotiating stadium leases, managing the seven venues across the country which staged Women’s World Cup games in 1999, and overseeing the championship venue in 2003.

In her role as General Counsel of Major League Soccer (MLS), June was a member of the founding team that launched the premier professional men’s soccer league in the U.S. The league’s groundbreaking single entity structure required June’s legal oversight of, and counsel to, the league and all ten teams.

Prior to working with MLS, Ms. McIvor was Vice President of Legal Affairs for World Cup USA 1994, hailed as the most successful World Cup ever. She has also been an entrepreneur, serving as President and CEO of Allegra, Inc., a company formed to establish a women’s sports television network in the U.S.

June began her legal career as an associate at the Los Angeles law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where she specialized in real estate issues, leveraged buyouts, and corporate acquisitions.
